I have been making chainmail & rubbermail now for over 5 years and have found the craft to be extremely therapeutic during times of stress, but also very satisfying when a beautiful new item is completed. I would highly recommend the chainmail & rubbermail craft to anyone who is looking for a creative outlet.
The first piece I made was from steel rings, so far the hardest medium I've used to date, as it was quite tough to open the rings, but then I discovered aluminium. Aluminium is not only easy to work with, anodised aluminium comes in so many beautiful colours. You can play with the designs, (take a look at the dragon-scale!) and you can also create items in many different colours. My latest rubbermail items have included household art items - a chandelier, using black rubber, anodised aluminium & copper. Pictures will be ready soon!
I've also branched out into Fine Jewellery made from Silver, Rose/Yellow Gold and also very deep colours of Niobium. They make such stunning necklaces!!
